Snickers Tops List For Favorite Halloween Treat

The Charlotte Observer

According to the second annual American Express Retail Index, a survey of 1,000 adults nationwide, consumers plan to spend an average of $98 on Halloween activities this year - $30 of it on candy alone. That’s up 21 percent from the $81 people planned to spend last year.

And 54 percent of those polled said Halloween is becoming as much a holiday for adults as for children - which may explain their trick-or-treat candy choices.

From what we hear, most children are crazy about really sour candy. But when American Express asked adults what type of candy they plan to give out, sour candy didn’t make the list.

Hmmm. Just who is eating all this candy, anyway?

At any rate, here are the most popular treats adults plan to pass out this year, according to the survey:

Snickers, 19 percent.

Candy corn, 12 percent.

Reese’s peanut butter cups, 7 percent.

Tootsie Rolls, 6 percent.

Hershey’s, 5 percent.

M&Ms, 5 percent.

Milky Way, 4 percent.
