Eberlin’S Huge Day Boosts Lumberjacks

Pat Eberlin almost single-handedly beat Lakeland on Tuesday night.

The St. Maries pitcher went 3 for 5, with four RBIs and three runs scored and hit a two-run triple in the fourth as his team defeated host Lakeland 12-6 in a battle of Intermountain League unbeatens.

Eberlin also struck out three and walked five in four innings on the mound that earned him the win. The Lumberjacks improved to 4-0.

For Lakeland (3-1), Casey Sweeney had two doubles and an RBI.

The Priest River-Timberlake baseball and softball games were postponed because of weather. No makeup date has been set.

Softball

Teea Stutheit had two of her team’s six hits, including a triple, and four RBIs as Lakeland blanked visiting St. Maries 10-0.

Megan Havercroft had a two-run single for Lakeland and pitcher Lonie Baumann struck out three. … The Kellogg-Bonners Ferry game didn’t make it through five innings because of weather, and was postponed.

Washington baseball

Ezra Bocook doubled to right-center to score Steve Hare for the game-winning run as North Central defeated Ferris 10-9 in 10 innings Tuesday in a battle of Greater Spokane League unbeatens at NC.

The Indians (4-0) scored three runs in the bottom of the 10th after Ferris (3-1) had gone ahead 9-7 in the top of the inning on Nik Pringle’s two-run single.

In other league games, Mead (2-1) pounded five hits during its six-run seventh and came back from a onerun deficit to win at University 8-3. The Panthers had five errors. Adam Johnson’s double drove in the tying run and Dan Stucky followed with a go-ahead single. Stucky went the distance on the mound, striking out seven and walking two. The Titans (1-3) gave up a three-run home run to Kurt Hibbard with one out in the seventh.

Shae Lanphere blasted two home runs and had a two-run double and five RBIs to lead East Valley over visiting Gonzaga Prep 14-4. The Knights (3-1) had 11 hits to one for the Bullpups (1-3). Ryan Thacker hit a two-run homer in the first for Prep’s lone hit. … John Langan had two hits, including a two-run double in the fourth, knocked in three runs and scored one to lead Lewis and Clark (1-2) to its first victory of the season, an 11-4 win at Mt. Spokane (1-3). Langan also had eight strikeouts to earn the win.
