With first place on the line, Kellogg stood tall at the free-throw line.
Luke Smith hit all six of his fourth-quarter free throws and Kellogg made 15 of 18 in the quarter to edge visiting Priest River 65-60 in the Intermountain League on Friday.
Kellogg moved one-half game ahead of idle Lakeland in the two-team race for first place. Lakeland plays at Kellogg on Friday night.
