Hitching Ride Ends In Arrest
A woman who hitched a ride from a Sheriff’s deputy ended up being arrested for heroin possession Saturday morning.
A deputy saw a woman hitchhiking on Sprague near Custer Street. He asked her if she wanted a ride to Sprague and Pines, said Sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.
The deputy was on duty and was headed the same direction.
The woman, identified as Virginia L. Morley, 35, told the deputy she was headed to Rockford, where she lives.
After running her name, the deputy found she had an outstanding warrant.
Morley was arrested and booked at the Spokane County Jail.
While being searched, jailers found two empty syringes and two syringes full of a brown liquid in her possession, Reagan said. The two full syringes were determined to be heroin, according to reports.
Morley was arrested and booked on a charge of felony possession of heroin.
