Car Crashes Into Fence After Chase

A high-speed chase ended with a car crashing into a fence early Tuesday morning.

A deputy attempted to pull over a Mitsubishi Mirage for speeding in the 8000 block of East Sprague Avenue at 12:54 a.m. Tuesday.

Instead of pulling over, the vehicle sped up to over 70 miles per hour and headed east on Sprague. The speed limit along that part of Sprague is 35 mph.

The car ran two red lights at Argonne and Mullan, then turned northbound to Sunderland Road.

The deputy reported that the car crashed into a fence on Sunderland. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash, according to sheriff’s reports.

Robert J. Gregory, 28, 615 W. Sixth, was arrested and charged with eluding a police vehicle. Gregory had a suspended license, deputies said, and additional charges are pending for driving with a suspended license.
