Benewah County St. Maries
Heyburn State Park features wildlife educational guests during the summer for its visitors and community members. The Wolf People, an organization dedicated to the animal’s preservation, will be sharing their knowledge about Arctic Wolves at 7:30 p.m. July 4th at Hawley’s Landing Amphitheater. Bonner County Priest Lake
The local golf course is expanding from nine holes to 18.
Preparation work is expected to be done soon and seeding will follow. When it’s finished it will be considered a championship course and is anticipated to bring golfers for the view of the lakes and wetlands. Half-acre home sites are also being built around the course.
Boundary County Bonners Ferry
The Eagles Club donated $500 to the Boundary Community Library. The library plans to purchase large print books and books on tape for use by people who have trouble reading smaller print and those who are learning English as a second language.
Kootenai County Rathdrum
A benefit for the Rathdrum Food Bank will be held during Rathdrum Days July 15. The Dashco Dash includes a 5-kilometer run for adults and a one-mile run for children. The registration deadline is July 7; cost is $10 with a T-shirt, $5 without a T-shirt. First place male and female runners will receive $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25. Latah County Moscow
Nine gold medals were brought home by Moscow competitors in the Idaho State Special Olympic Summer Games. Marty Anderson, Eugene Dickey, Bryden Dimmick, Richard Dusten, Mark Smith and Scott Skiles all won gold medals in the basketball competition. Jason Phillips took first in the 50-meter freestyle swim, Robert Pope took first in the shot put and Tawny Espy took first in the 50-meter dash.
Shoshone County Pinehurst
The Idaho Arts Commission gave a $1,252 grant to Pinehurst Elementary School. The grant will be used to hire visual artist Helen Granger Wilson, a participant in the Artist in Residence program. Wilson has led several programs in the Silver Valley.

Posters to promote the Junior Fair are being sought by the Junior Fair Committee. Posters submitted will be displayed in store windows and judged on originality, neatness, information included on the fair and artistic ability. Anyone 19 and under may enter.
