‘Sesame Workshop’ Ventures Beyond TV
After more than 30 years, the Children’s Television Workshop has outgrown its name.
The nonprofit education organization that created “Sesame Street” has renamed itself Sesame Workshop.
The name change, announced Monday, reflects the organization’s new ventures beyond television. It has projects in several other media, including online, CD-ROMs, magazines, books, film and product licensing.
In a venture with Nickelodeon, it has created Noggin, a new 24-hour kids’ cable channel. It also produces the animated “Dragon Tales” on PBS.
