Lc, Ferris Faculty Take Up Hoops

Nathan Joyce Correspondent

The basketball might not be first rate offering fast breaks and slam dunks - but it should at least be entertaining for players and fans.

That’s what faculty basketball players of Ferris and Lewis and Clark high schools hope for when they face off at Rubber Chicken Mania.

Rubber Chicken Mania is a basketball game in which the faculties of Ferris and Lewis and Clark battle for a twofold purpose.

First, it gets fans primed for the annual Rubber Chicken basketball game, pitting the two South Hill schools on Jan. 12.

Second, it raises money for both schools’ graduation celebrations - dubbed senior all-nighters.

Last year, each school made about $500, said Joel Lassman, a parent volunteer for the game.

Rubber Chicken Mania, in its fourth year, is Dec. 4 at 7:15 p.m. at the Lewis and Clark Fieldhouse.

Tickets, if bought before the game from seniors from either school, cost $1 for students and $2 for adults. The price doubles at the game.
