Shadow’s Hite reaches heights with player-of-year honor in PDL soccer
Spokane Shadow star forward Brett Hite was named the U-19 player of the year in the Premier Development League, the United Soccer Leagues announced Tuesday from Tampa, Fla.
Hite led Spokane in scoring with 34 points, finishing with 14 goals and six assists in 15 matches. Hite finished 12th in PDL scoring and was the lone player from the Western Conference among the top 20.
The University High graduate has been recruited to play at the University of Washington.
Baseball
The Spokane Indians announced Wednesday that Saturday’s Northwest League home game against the Tri-City Dust Devils has been sold out.
The Indians and Dust Devils begin a crucial, three-game series at Avista Stadium tonight. Spokane trails T-C by two games in the East Division.
Spokane’s season-long, eight-game homestand will continue Sunday with the first of five games against West Division-leading Everett.
“The undefeated Vancouver Trojans and the Kennewick Bandits qualified for today’s nine-inning championship game of the American Legion Junior State Tournament.
The teams will meet at noon at Central Valley High. Sixteen teams began play on Saturday.
Vancouver, the champion from Division B, defeated the Kennewick Dusters at CV to earn a spot in the final. The Bandits won Division A by stopping the Kent Sox at Shadle Park’s Jackson Field.
