Gunshot outside restaurant claims teenager
LEWISTON – A Lewiston man was shot to death near a fast-food restaurant drive-through and a suspect is in custody at a hospital.
Travis Palmer, 19, died Saturday night from a gunshot wound to the head.
Steven Droogs, 28, of Clarkston, Wash., was taken to St. Joseph’s for a possible drug overdose, where he remained Sunday night.
At 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of an injury accident at a Jack In The Box and found the fatally wounded man near the drive-through window.
An anonymous phone call tipped officers to Droogs’ location at 10 a.m., and officers and SWAT members surrounded the house and persuaded him to surrender, said Police Capt. Allan Sharp.
Droogs told officers he had taken a half-ounce of methamphetamine and he collapsed as officers were taking him into custody, Sharp said.
