Operation Walkout

A tank from the 161st Infantry Regiment gave an element of realism to a test of population dispersal in downtown Spokane in 1954. Operation Walkout was the first test of its type in the nation. About 11,000 people downtown cleared the area, mostly on foot, in eight minutes.
