Man who ran from police booked into jail
A man ran from police, but wasn’t able to escape numerous criminal charges.
Spokane Valley Police Department officer Mark Gregory was patrolling near East Nora Avenue and North Sargent Road about 8:20 a.m. Sunday when he saw the driver of a silver Kia turn without signaling, then back up and park on the street facing the wrong direction, according to a Valley Police press release.
Michael B. Grzogorek, 35, 2715 N. Pines Road, was identified as the driver.
When Gregory told the suspect he had committed traffic infractions, Grzogorek reportedly ran away. At one point, Gregory grabbed the suspect by the hair as he climbed a fence, but the suspect got free. He was eventually arrested as he ran behind homes nearby, Police said.
Officers searched the man’s car and allegedly found a small amount of methamphetamine. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on that charge. Misdemeanor counts of obstructing police and third degree escape are pending, Police said. Grzogorek was also fined $1,197 for traffic infractions, according to police.
