Teen arrested on vehicle prowling charge
A 15-year-old was arrested for allegedly breaking into cars Tuesday morning.
A witness called police to report that he saw someone with a flashlight inside a red car.
Spokane Valley Police officers Scott Streltzoff and Todd Saunders went to the 13200 block of East 13th Avenue at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday and found the man still in the car.
They ordered the teen out at gunpoint, according to a press release from the Spokane Valley Police Department.
Police did not release the teen’s name because he is a juvenile. But he was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle prowling.
The teen had a car stereo and flashlight in his backpack. The stereo from the red car had been removed from the dash and was sitting on the seat, police said. Officers found another car that had been broken into a block away and determined that the stereo in the teen’s backpack came from that car.
The teenager also had methamphetamine in his pocket. He was booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention on suspicion of vehicle prowling and drug possession.
