BSU student leader heading to Middle East
BOISE — Boise State University’s student body president is traveling to Israel over the holidays with university leaders from across the U.S.
David Morriss’ trip is part of an exchange sponsored by the American Jewish Committee, a group trying to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Nearly 3,500 student body presidents have taken part in the program since 1994, according to the group.
Morriss plans to stay in the region from Dec. 26 through Jan. 3.
While he’s in the Middle East, Morriss will focus on issues including Arab-Jewish relations, the region’s stalled peace process, education and the absorption of Jewish immigrants from all over the world into Israel’s population.
Morriss is a 1992 graduate of Nampa Senior High School.
His delegation includes student body presidents from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Montana and Iowa.
