Thanks to everyone for the gifts
Having the opportunity to live and work in the West Valley School District has continued to be a blessing for me and my family. The many blessings received throughout my 16-year tenure have come in many forms, and I consider them to be gifts.
The gift of friendship:
I want to thank you for allowing me to be more than just your superintendent of schools. As we worked together on various projects, I have come to know many committee members, volunteers, parents and staff. Allowing me the opportunity to work with you in an atmosphere of friendship has created a greater understanding of our shared values and vision for our children. Thank you for the gift.
The gift of trust:
Trust is the fuel that creates the energy necessary for effective leadership. The accomplishments of the many goals established in our strategic plans would have never been possible without the community’s trust in its school leaders. The freedom to make decisions in the management of the schools in an environment where trust prevails is a gift that I thank you for and have greatly appreciated.
The gift of forgiveness:
I have made a number of mistakes during my tenure as superintendent of schools and have continued to be amazed at your willingness not only to forgive, but your willingness to pull together to unite and energize to overcome every obstacle. West Valley is a community that is passionate about providing quality educational delivery models for its children, while being compassionate for those whom they have entrusted to carry out their plan. I thank you for your gift of forgiveness.
The gift of sharing:
Thank you for sharing your children with me. I have continued to be a proud father over the years watching 15 graduating senior classes move across the stage, receive their diplomas and step proudly into the future. Our children are the greatest treasure, and the opportunity to spend 37 years in a profession that serves children has truly been a rewarding experience. Thank you for sharing your time, wisdom, talents, insights, words of encouragement, constructive criticism, financial commitment, and more. West Valley School District is truly blessed, and I thank you for your gift of sharing.
The gift of the board:
In reflecting upon my tenure as superintendent, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the gift of working with an extraordinary board of directors. This talented, dedicated group of individuals has provided the wisdom, guidance, and encouragement necessary to be an effective superintendent. I will miss my close association with the members of the board, an association which has deeply enriched not only my professional life but my personal life as well. Thank you.
It is not possible for me to effectively express my profound gratitude for having been allowed to serve as your superintendent of schools through the years. I leave you knowing you will be in best of hands. Thank you for the many years, friendships, and fond memories.
