Guess that old Tom just keeps cruisin’ for a bruisin’
What is it with Tom Cruise and those near-fatal accidents on the sets of his movies? Jamie Foxx says that while performing an action scene with Cruise in the soon-to-be released “Collateral,” he thought he’d killed his co-star.
“I hit the gas, the cab goes straight head-on into Cruise’s Mercedes and the Mercedes lifts off the ground and goes off the set,” Foxx told World Entertainment News Network.
Cruise admitted that he was tossed around the car. “I was hitting the roof,” he said. “I was down on the ground.”
Foxx says he realized who was the bigger star when the cast and crew made sure Cruise was OK before rescuing him.
“They were so worried that I had killed my man,” Foxx said. “Can you imagine all that money bouncing around in the back seat?”
It’s not Cruise’s first near-death experience on a movie set. He reportedly came within an inch of being beheaded while filming “The Last Samurai” when a sword fight stunt went wrong.
We’ll bet he still gets a big hand
Willie Nelson will sing but won’t be able to play guitar at his annual Fourth of July picnic in Fort Worth, Texas, because of a slow recovery from carpal tunnel surgery.
Nelson, 71, said he has unusual soreness and swelling in his left hand six weeks after the wrist surgery aimed at relieving the painful nerve condition.
“I can tell it’s getting a little better each day, but I can tell by the rate it’s improving, it’s not going to be ready tomorrow,” he said.
Sounds like he was headed to Willie’s
David Crosby was fined $5,000 on Friday after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
The 62-year-old singer was arrested in March after a Manhattan hotel worker found a Colt .45-caliber handgun, three clips of .45-caliber ammunition, two knives and an ounce of marijuana in luggage he had left behind. Crosby later called to say he’d pick up the luggage, and police were waiting for him when he arrived.

Joan Rivers and her daughter, Melissa Rivers, are now hanging their Golden Hangers at the TV Guide Channel.
The self-proclaimed fashionistas had been fixtures at E! Entertainment Television since 1996, where they were widely known for their red-carpet coverage of the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes and Grammys. Their new job will expand beyond the red carpet to original specials and series, including the nightly show “What’s On.”
Speaking of starving actors …
John Stamos, who appeared on TV’s “Full House” from 1987-1995, said he believes that former co-star Mary-Kate Olsen is “going to be just fine.”
Olsen, who shared the role of Michelle Tanner with her twin sister, Ashley, recently entered a treatment program for a reported eating disorder.
“If this is the worst thing that can happen to them, they are still ahead of the game,” Stamos said.
