Now that crazy Kiefer is acting like he’s 24 again
Kiefer Sutherland stunned a group of small-town New Zealand women with an impromptu strip routine at a local nightclub. The “24” TV star slipped out of his socks and whipped off his shirt, waving it above his head to the tune of the Tom Jones hit “You Can Leave Your Hat On,” the New Zealand Herald newspaper reported.
The women at Raetihi’s Cosmopolitan Club were watching Men of Steel — a male revue act — and Sutherland was drinking at an adjoining bar before deciding to join the act, the newspaper said.
The 37-year-old actor was then ushered off the stage.
“He had an enjoyable evening and so did everyone that was here,” a club spokesman said, adding: “He’s coming back in August, mate, and as far as we’re concerned we want him back in here.”
Sutherland is in New Zealand filming “River Queen,” which tells the story of an Irish immigrant during the 18th-century wars between indigenous Maori and colonial settlers.
We always heard he was hooked on horse
James Hewitt, the former lover of Princess Diana, was arrested and detained on a reported cocaine possession charge at a London bar late Wednesday.
A spokesman said the former calvary officer had been held over a “drugs-related matter” along with TV presenter Alison Bell, a former girlfriend of Prince Edward, Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son.
A spokesman for London’s Metropolitan Police refused to confirm that Hewitt had been busted, but acknowledged that a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a Class-A drug — a category that includes heroin and cocaine.
Heather’s not washed up yet
Heather Graham, whose screen credits range from the films “Boogie Nights” and “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” to television’s “Twin Peaks” and “Arrested Development,” has signed on for a guest-starring stint as a psychiatrist on NBC’s medical comedy “Scrubs.”
“I’ve always found Heather incredibly funny and can’t wait to start writing this character for her,” says “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence. “Although her character will be a professionally competent shrink, her personal life will be a train wreck.”
But it’s probably not a real fat paycheck
Kirstie Alley, prime tabloid fodder for her ballooning weight, will send up her image in “Fat Actress,” a “comedy/reality” series next year on Showtime.
The former “Cheers” and “Veronica’s Closet” star will play a “slightly fictionalized version of herself, an actress trying to lose weight, get a man and find a job.”
Says Alley: “Finally, a network that feels just like home. They don’t give a damn how much I eat or how many men I sleep with as long as it’s on camera.”
Mashed potatoes? Must be talking about Kirstie
Linda Ronstadt, booed offstage last Saturday at the Aladdin hotel-casino in Las Vegas for praising Michael Moore‘s “Fahrenheit 9/11,” was cheered at a Los Angeles concert Tuesday for delivering the same message.
“This is an election year,” Ronstadt told the Los Angeles Times. “I want people to get their head up out of their mashed potatoes and learn something about the issues and go and vote.”
The birthday bunch
