Tunes, but not tents, at this year’s KUBE

Two of America’s Most Blunted, Redman and Method Man, are sure to rank with the biggest draws for this year’s KUBE Summer Jam on Saturday at the Gorge Amphitheatre.

With movies, television sitcoms, new albums and a host of collaborations to their credit, Meth and Red have been among the highest profiles in the rap game for more than 10 years running.

But a decade-long career in hip-hop years practically makes the Def Jam label mates geriatrics. They find themselves having to prove they still can connect with a younger generation of listeners, and Summer Jam is yet another testing ground.

Outside of the platinum-selling Meth-tical, gold-selling Funk Doc, Chicago’s rapid-fire spitting Twista, and New York’s Ja Rule (fresh off an arrest for alleged weed possession), the majority of the lineup is a showcase of the best in the South, including Chingy, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Yin Yang Twins, and Lil Flip.

Also scheduled to appear are Pitbull, Ashanti, and Lloyd.

If you’re heading to the Gorge on Saturday for the show, leave your camping gear behind, though. The campgrounds at the Gorge are closed for security reasons. The concert is scheduled to end at 9:30 p.m.

Other security restrictions: No containers of any kind are allowed, neither are backpacks. Disposable cameras and low-back chairs are OK.
