West Valley Days parade, carnival Saturday
West Valley SCOPE is holding its annual parade and carnival on Saturday. This is the 10th year for West Valley Days, which offers affordable fun for all ages while raising money for the West Valley Sheriff’s community policing program.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Susie’s Steak and Seafood, 9611 E. Trent Ave., and travels 10 blocks to Millwood City Park, at Frederick and Argonne.
The carnival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features live entertainment.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Valley Crosstrailers will demonstrate square dancing. After 1 p.m., disc jockey Tino Jimenez of Tino’s Tunes will entertain kids with a mix of humor and music.
“He’s a real hoot. He really plays up to the kids. He has them doing karaoke, he has them doing the funky chicken. They love it,” said Billie Evers, a West Valley SCOPE volunteer, who is organizing the carnival.
Kids can play a variety of carnival games and explore a jumping castle. The lady El Katif Shrine clowns will paint faces and families can purchase hot dogs, pizza and more and enjoy a picnic in the park.
More than 40 raffle prizes are up for grabs through drawings, and tickets are offered for $1 each or six for $5.
Adults can play bingo for 25 cents a card.
There will be a small charge for games and food. The live entertainment is free.
