Braves 6, Phillies 4: At Atlanta, Kevin Millwood remained winless against his former team, allowing a go-ahead, three-run homer to J.D. Drew in a six-run fifth inning that led the Braves over Philadelphia. Millwood (4-4) wasted a four-run lead and dropped to 0-6 with a 9.10 ERA in six starts against Atlanta, which traded him to Philadelphia for catcher Johnny Estrada on Dec. 20, 2002.

Mets 5, Marlins 2: At New York, Mike Piazza hit his third homer in two days and drove in four runs, sending the Mets to a victory over Florida. Al Leiter pitched two-hit ball for 52/3 scoreless innings to help New York gain a split of the four-game series.

Reds 6, Expos 5: At Cincinnati, Ken Griffey Jr. homered twice to increase his career total to 498, and the Reds rallied with three runs in the ninth inning to beat Montreal.

Cubs 4, Pirates 1: At Chicago, Greg Maddux gave the Cubs their third straight strong start, allowing four hits over seven innings in a win over Pittsburgh.

Astros 3, Cardinals 2: At St. Louis, Roy Oswalt worked six solid innings and Raul Chavez hit an RBI double that broke a sixth-inning tie, helping Houston beat the Cardinals and avoid a three-game sweep.

Giants 16, Rockies 4: At Denver, Barry Bonds homered and Dustin Hermanson won for the first time in seven starts, singled twice and drove in a run in San Francisco’s victory over Colorado.

Padres 8, Brewers 3: At San Diego, Adam Eaton snapped his six-game losing streak and Phil Nevin hit a three-run homer, leading the Padres past Milwaukee.

Diamondbacks 6, Dodgers 5: At Phoenix, Danny Bautista hit a go-ahead single during a three-run rally in the seventh inning that carried Arizona over Los Angeles.
