Fire damages vacant Pullman apartment
PULLMAN – Pullman fire officials are investigating a suspicious fire in a vacant apartment at the North Campus Heights complex early Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported by tenants in an apartment nearby who saw smoke and flames shortly after midnight. A Pullman police officer got into the unit through a window and contained the blaze with an extinguisher, according to reports.
The fire apparently started in a hallway closet and reached the hallway before filling the apartment with smoke, reports say. Though the two apartments above the unit were occupied, no one was injured. Damage is estimated to be around $7,000.
This apartment complex was targeted in April when several vehicles and a storage shed were burned in intentionally set blazes on three different occasions.
