OutKast picks up six BET Award nominations

OutKast, Beyonce, Lil Jon, Usher and Kanye West lead the nominations for the 2004 BET Awards.

OutKast picked up six nods for its album “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below,” including best group and multiple nominations in the video of the year and viewer’s choice categories.

Close behind with five nominations each are Beyonce and Lil Jon. Beyonce’s categories include best female R&B artist, best collaboration — for “Crazy in Love” featuring boyfriend Jay-Z — and best actress.

Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz are nominated for best group and viewer’s choice for the video “Get Low” featuring the Ying Yang Twins. And as Usher’s “Yeah!” partner, Lil Jon grabbed three nods, for best collaboration, video of the year and viewer’s choice.

Producer-of-the-moment Kanye West tied Usher with four nominations.

Expanded to three hours this year, the June 29 ceremony will air live on BET from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.
