KELOWNA, B.C. – Cam Paddock and Shea Weber had a goal and two assists apiece to lead the Kelowna Rockets to a 4-1 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques in Memorial Cup play Monday.
Kelowna scored all four of its goals on the power play.
Paddock put the Rockets up 1-0 at the 4:41 mark of the first period and Weber stretched the lead to 2-0 with a goal just 54 seconds later.
Randall Gelech upped the lead to 3-0, scoring 4:07 into the second period. Mike Card capped the scoring for the host team when he found the net at the 13:20 mark of the second.
Gatineau, from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, got its goal from Doug O’Brien with 5:47 remaining in the second.
Kelowna finished 4 of 7 with a man advantage, while the Olympiques connected of 1 of 5 attempts.
Rockets goalie Kelly Guard stopped 24 of 25 shots on goal. Kelowna is 2-0 in the tourney, while Gatineau drops to 1-1. The Rockets face Medicine Hat on Thursday.
