The Spokesman-Review

BOISE – Adam Capaul pitched 5 2/3 solid innings, and Dan Lau and Cory Kreighbaum hit home runs in the third inning Friday as Lake City qualified for the State 5A baseball championship game with an 8-7 win over Borah at Borah High.

The Timberwolves (21-6) will play Timberline (24-5) this afternoon for the state title.

Borah and Twin Falls, both 23-6, will play for third place.

Capaul (7-0) struck out three and carried an 8-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Reliever Zach Green ended the sixth with a bases-loaded strikeout, then worked a 1-2-3 seventh.

Trailing 3-0, the Timberwolves struck for seven runs in the third. Lau hit a two-run blast and Kreighbaum added a two-out, three-run shot. Both batters finished 2 for 5.

LC scored an important run in the fifth. Brian Baker, on third base, beat the throw to the plate after Jeff Harris’ short popup behind first base.

Timberline scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past Twin Falls in the other semifinal.
