Golf tourney will benefit Wishing Star

Join local and national celebrities for the third annual Celebrity Golf Tournament at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course June 18.

Proceeds will benefit the Wishing Star Foundation, a nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of area children with life-threatening illnesses.

Cost for the tournament is $150 per player and includes golfing, golf cart, forecaddie, unlimited range balls, club transportation and cleaning and 20 percent off nonsale items in the pro shop.

Individual, team and hole-in-one prizes will be awarded; tee time is at 2 p.m.

Registration must be made by June 1; entry forms are available at the Wishing Star office, 915 W. Second Ave., Suite 2, or by calling (509) 744-3411.

Another benefit for the Wishing Star Foundation, the first “Road to Wishes” West Coast Motorcycle Tour, also will begin June 18 prior to the Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Riders will start their 2,500-mile tour from The Coeur d’Alene Resort, loop around Big Sur, Calif., returning to the resort on June 27.

A night at the Civic Theatre

See the production of “I Do! I Do!” on Wednesday and benefit college music students in the area.

The musical is about 50 years of married life and will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Spokane Civic Theater, 1020 N. Howard St.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.

Proceeds will be given to the Mu Phi Epsilon international professional music fraternity’s Spokane alumni acholarship program. Mu Phi Epsilon is a nonprofit group.

Great Strides

Walkers will raise funds for cystic fibrosis research and treatment in more than 500 locations nationwide through June.

Great Strides 2004, sponsored by the Washington Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Airlines and Solvay, will occur in Spokane on June 5.

Walkers start the 3-mile walk along the Centennial Trail at 11 a.m., beginning at Martin Centre at Gonzaga University. A picnic hosted by David’s Pizza will follow.

Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $150 through sponsors; 90 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to cystic fibrosis research and treatment programs.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects 30,000 children and adults in the United States.
