Davenport in State B semifinals

Tyson Linstrum pitched a three-hitter and had a two-run single in the first inning Monday as Davenport qualified for the State B baseball semifinals with an 8-0 win over Wilbur-Creston in a quarterfinal playoff at University High.

Linstrum (9-1) struck out six and allowed no extra-base hits. A.J. Robinson of the Gorillas (22-4) finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

The Wildcats finished the season with a 17-8 record.

Davenport opened the day with a 9-0 win that eliminated La Salle. Marty Villa (10-2) pitched a three-hitter, with 12 strikeouts and three walks. Linstrum hit a two-run homer in the fourth and Andy Semprimoznik went 3 for 4 with three runs.

Gavin Mann struck out 15, doubled twice and had three RBIs to guide W-C to an eight-inning, 8-6 win over Touchet (15-8) in another opener. Mann, 12-2 this season and 23-5 for his career, ended the game with a two-run double in the top of the eighth inning.

Keith Johnson went 4 for 4 and Chad Holbrock had a two-run single in the seventh as Port Townsend (15-8) defeated Lakeside 6-5 in a State 2A quarterfinal at Shadle Park’s Jackson Field. PT will play Naches on Friday night in a semifinal at Yakima County Stadium. Redskins reliever Josh Unbedacht earned the save by coaxing a game-ending popup with runners at first and second. Brandon Hayes of the Eagles (18-7) had an RBI single during a two-run seventh. Jason Burtness added an RBI single in Lakeside’s two-run sixth… . Lakeside qualified for the quarterfinal by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 win over Kiona-Benton (18-7). Matt Dinsmore drew a one-out walk, moved up on a ground out and walk, and scored on Jordan Moore‘s single. Starting pitcher Dan Bowman struck out six and hit a three-run homer in the third… . PT began the day with a 6-5 win that eliminated Othello (16-8). Holbrock struck out five and walked none.

Eric Smith finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs as Okanogan defeated Lind-Ritzville 8-6 in a State 1A quarterfinal at Moses Lake. The Bulldogs advance to Friday afternoon’s semifinal at Yakima County Stadium against Brewster (22-2). Nick Ashley and Jacob Kragt had two RBIs apiece for the Broncos, who finished 17-5. L-R opened the day with a 9-8 win that eliminated River View. The game had been suspended in the seventh inning Saturday, with River View leading 8-7. The Broncos scored three runs in the seventh to hand the win to reliever Cameron McGregor, who struck out six in three innings. Kragt went 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
