Police say offender arranged sex between daughter, inmates

Associated Press

RIGBY, Idaho – A registered sex offender accused of arranging sexual encounters between his underage daughter and inmates from the St. Anthony Work Camp was arrested by undercover police officers who were tipped off to the scheme by another inmate.

Jerry L. Mattson, of Terreton, was charged with two counts of sexual battery of a child who is 16 or 17 years old.

He allegedly asked his daughter last spring to take off her clothes and solicited sexual intercourse for her with two inmates of the camp, which houses 200 prisoners who work in the Rigby area on fire crews and as laborers.

Court documents did not indicate if Mattson asked the inmates for money. Mattson isn’t being charged with sexual abuse himself.

Mattson allegedly arranged the encounters while inmate crews were working at a pump station near his house, said Capt. LaVar Summers of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office..
