Fuqua, Vikings run all over Wildcats

Portland State running back Ryan Fuqua ran for 168 yards and one touchdown to lead the Vikings to a 34-15 Big Sky Conference victory over the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday in Ogden, Utah.

Fuqua’s teammate, Joe Rubin, ran for 119 yards and one touchdown.

Quarterback Joe Wiser finished 9-of-12 passing for 119 yards. As a team, the Vikings (6-4, 4-3 Big Sky) rushed for 302 yards, an average of 5.4 yards per carry.

After the Vikings jumped to a 21-3 advantage in the first half, a poorly executed punt and two fumbles allowed the Wildcats to climb back to 21-15 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Fuqua and Rubin responded by scoring touchdowns in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Quarterback Ian Pizarro finished the game 19 for 43 for 243 yards and one rushing touchdown for the Wildcats (1-10, 1-6).

Montana 52, Sacramento St. 21

Justin Green rushed for three first-quarter touchdowns and Jon Talmage caught three scoring passes as the Grizzlies (8-2, 5-1) whipped the Hornets (3-7, 2-5) in Missoula.

Craig Ochs passed for 300 yards and three TDs and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jefferson Heidelberger for No. 9 Montana, which led 38-7 at halftime.

Idaho St. 24, Northern Arizona 17

David Beverly’s 70-yard interception return for a TD sparked the Bengals (3-7, 2-5) to a win over the Lumberjacks (4-6, 3-4) in Pocatello, Idaho.

The Bengals trailed 17-0 in the second quarter when Beverly picked off the pass.

The Lumberjacks twice had scoring chances in the fourth quarter, but both drives ended with interceptions deep in ISU territory.
