Home buyer seminar in Russian Nov. 6
It’s estimated that more than 20,000 immigrants from Russia live in Spokane County and they all need shelter of some kind. Some live in homes, some in apartments. Some want to purchase homes, but hesitate. The possible language barrier to owning a home can be a hurdle and the Spokane HomeOwnership Resource Center (SHORC) intends to eliminate it by hosting a housing class in Russian.
SHORC will step forward to bring the message of homeownership to the area’s Russian community and to help them define the best ways of doing so. On Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the SHORC will provide a free HomeBuyer Education Seminar taught in Russian at 55 W. Mission Ave. at the Spokane Housing building. The seminar is free, but reservations are required. Call (509) 343-7472 to register.
A nonprofit organization, the SHORC mission outlines the steps to homeownership through seminars and covers credit and pre-purchase counseling and provides referral services. Seminars are designed to help people learn the home-buying process and the programs for which they may qualify that could cover the down payment, closing costs or both on a home.
