The lecture, sponsored by the Lilac Bloomsday Association and the Bloomsday Road Runners Club, is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted for the BRRC scholarship fund.
College men’s golf
Whitworth, which had been out of the men’s golf business for some two decades before reinstating the program a year ago, has won its first major Northwest Conference championship – the NWC Fall Classic, which wound up a 36-hole run Monday in Sisters, Ore.
Whitworth had won a four-team fall tournament a year ago, but this was the Pirates’ first team title with all eigtht NWC teams competing.
The Pirates, who recorded a 10-stroke victory, had three of the top seven scorers, including the medalist, freshman Andrew Parrott, who had a one-stroke win with a 4-over-par 148 (75-73). The Pirates’ Joe Finley was third at 140 and Jordan Carter tied for sixth at 152.
