Cast your vote for Spokane’s best band

Apathy is a luxury we can no longer afford.

“Vote or Die” has been P. Diddy’s slogan for this year’s presidential election, and (although we want nothing to do with Diddy, really) we here at 7 have the same attitude about our 7 For President local mp3 contest.

It’s been six weeks since 7 called for musicians to send us their music for you to download free.

At the time, we had collected a measly 30 bands and 80 songs online in the four months the service has been available.

But since early September, the number of bands and songs on the site ( www.spokane7.com) has doubled.

Now is the time for readers to go online and vote for who they think is the best band to represent Spokane, based on the mp3s we’ve got.

It’s simple, just go to www.spokane7.com‘s music section, check out the mp3s and vote for what you think are the three best songs in our library.

Since there are close to 150 songs by almost 70 bands, after much deliberation we have whittled the list of candidates down to the top 28, based on the songs that get the most downloads, popularity of the bands and our expert opinions.

The top seven winners will be announced Nov. 19. The deadline to vote is Nov. 14.
