Fox’s boxing show faces new lawsuit

From wire reports

Fox’s reality boxing show “The Next Great Champ” has won one round in court, but faces a new legal jab.

A California judge recently denied a request by Mark Burnett and DreamWorks Television – creators of a rival NBC reality boxing series, “The Contender” – to block Tuesday’s scheduled debut of “Next Great Champ.” They claimed the Fox series, co-produced by boxing great Oscar De La Hoya, violated state boxing regulations in its rush to get on the air.

Now independent producer Leigh Ann Burton has tossed her own lawsuit into the ring, claiming “Next Great Champ” came from a concept she pitched to Fox last fall.
