Folk ensemble Moscow Nights to perform at CenterStage
CenterStage kicks off its new season of World Music Concerts on Sunday with an appearance by the award-winning Russian folk ensemble Moscow Nights.
The classically trained trio uses a combination of instrumental music (on balalaika, accordion and other folk instruments), singing and humorous dance to explore Russian culture and traditions, focusing on such lesser-known elements as Cossack war melodies and Siberian love chants.
Originally formed in Russia in the late 1980s, the group reunited in the United States in 1996 and has been based in Cleveland since 1998.
In addition to the performance, a sampling of Russian dishes will be served in dinner theater format. Tickets are $43 for food and the show, or $22 for adults, $17 for ages 17 and under, for the show only (includes dessert and beverage). A full bar will be available.
Food service begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the performance around 7. For ticket information, call 747-8243.
