LOOKING AHEAD

If you followed the Prep Page last year, you’ll notice some differences today.

At the bottom of the page we’ve started a weekly feature intended to highlight accomplishments and key matchups in the Great Northern, the Northeast A and the B leagues in the Inland Northwest.

We’ll take a quick run around the leagues and get you ready for the week ahead.

This column will continue to highlight the best events in the upcoming week, with an emphasis on the Greater Spokane League.

With that in mind, what’s the best thing about non-league games? They’re non-league games. In other words, if you struggle, it doesn’t kill you in your league race. If you do well, it builds momentum for the games that do count.

The GSL played its non-league football games last week, and Cheney, Clarkston, Gonzaga Prep, Mt. Spokane and North Central built momentum.

Will it carry over to this week’s openers? We’ll find out starting tonight, when the GSL opens league games.
