Alzheimer’s walks raise $65,000

From staff report

More than 500 people and their pets turned out for “Doggy and Memory Walks” at Spokane’s Mission Park and at Idaho’s Faragut State Park on Saturday.

The walks raised $65,000 for the Inland Northwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, which serves 36,000 Alzheimer’s patients and their families living in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. The association provides support and education services, in addition to being the largest private supporter of research into the disease.

“We’re extremely pleased with the turnout, and with the support. We appreciate what the community and local sponsors have done,” said Joel Loiacono, executive director of the chapter.
