Coeur d’Alene, Lake City girls tie, 1-1
Senior midfielder Kristi Astin scored in the 70th minute, allowing Coeur d’Alene to salvage an Inland Empire League girls soccer tie with Lake City Tuesday on its home field, 1-1.
In other matches, Kayla Stiegemeier scored two goals and assisted on a third as Lakeland stopped Lewiston 3-2. The junior forward’s second goal, a one-on-one with the Lewiston goalkeeper in the 49th minute, staked the Hawks to a 3-1 lead. Megan Hug scored both goals for the Bengals. Lakeland goalkeeper Shawna Sanders needed a diving save on a Lewiston corner kick in the last minute to preserve the win.

In Inland Empire League games, Lewiston used a pair of first-half goals to get past Lakeland, 2-1. Ben Ward scored two minutes into the second half, but the Hawks couldn’t pull even. … Moscow scored 11 minutes into the game and limited visiting Post Falls to just four shots on goal en route to a 3-0 shutout victory. Peter Beard needed to make just one save to earn the shutout in goal. … In a non-league game Sandpoint’s junior varsity scored a 1-0 victory over St. Maries.

Kelsey Taylor, a 6-foot-3 middle hitter, smacked down 15 kills as Moscow took three of four games and scored an Inland Empire League upset at Coeur d’Alene, 25-19, 25-18, 24-26, 25-22. Setter Carleigh Hahns, a 5-3 senior, posted 38 assists for the Bears. Jenna Griffits had a dozen kills and Jackie Lenz had 32 digs and a pair of aces for the Vikings. … Lake City swept past Lewiston, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.
