A: Jimmy Smits decided to spend some quality time doing theater in New York for a while, but he’s back in films (upcoming “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”) and has joined NBC’s “The West Wing” this season as a Texas congressman who wants to be president. Smits will then join ABC in a new talent production deal with the network and Touchstone Television.
