Ministry will preach its anti-W message at Big Easy
There’s no W in Ministry
The industrial kings of
Ministry first made a mainstream name for themselves with 1992’s “Psalm 69,” primarily with the album’s anti-George H.W. Bush single, “N.W.O.”
But they’re not hiding in a spider hole in fear of former President Bush’s son.
Rather, they’re launching a sonic assault on the current president with the “EViL DoER Tour” at the Big Easy Concert House on Nov. 11 at
8 p.m.
The tour is in support of “Houses of the Molé,” an album recorded in George W. Bush’s home state of Texas. The album features “Worthless,” “WTV,” “Worm” and “No W,” the album’s first single.
In case you hadn’t noticed, every song has a “W” in the title. Subtlety isn’t lost on these guys, apparently.
My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult opens the show. Tickets are $25 and on sale today at 10 a.m. through TicketsWest, 325-SEAT or www.ticketswest.com.
Mmm … Good Charlotte. How about Sum 41?
In case you’re missing out on their boyish faces on MTV, neo-pop-punk- rockers
Good Charlotte and
Sum 41 are teaming up to bring their melodic, mainstream anti-conformist tunes to the Spokane Arena on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Both bands are on top of the adolescent angst heap started in part by Green Day in the early ‘90s. With Good Charlotte’s new single, “Predictable,” at No. 2 on the TRL top 10, it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon.
Tickets are $25 and go on sale today at 10 a.m. through TicketsWest.
Like a passing comet
Bill Haley’s Original Comets will rock around the Big Easy Concert House on Oct. 20 at 8 p.m.
For those of you who don’t remember (or listen to the oldies station frequently), Bill Haley and the Comets scored a gargantuan hit with the classic “Rock Around the Clock.”
Haley passed away in 1981, but the group is still rockin’ the old tunes.
The Dusty 45s will open the show. Tickets are $18 and go on sale today at 10 a.m. through TicketsWest.
All-ages Cho
Turn those frowns upside-down, kids, for your prayers have been answered.
Comedian
Margaret Cho added an all-ages show to her Spokane stop on “The State of Emergency Tour” at The Big Easy. The 6 p.m. show now will be open for all ages; the 8 p.m. show is still 21 and older.
Tickets are $39.50 for reserved seats and $29.50 for general admission, on sale now through TicketsWest.
