Meredith Little earns B.A. from Wellesley
Psychology major Meredith Little received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College in Massachusetts in the spring and planned to work at Boston Children’s Hospital.
At Wellesley, Little was involved with Phi Sigma Lecture Society, the Schneider Board of Governors, and residential advisory staff and received a First Year Academic Distinction and the Public Service Opportunity Stipend.
She attended Lake City High School and is the daughter of Scott and Maureen Little of Coeur d’Alene.
• Chad Madsen, a senior at Lake City High School, was recently among 75 students nationally to be accepted to the Student Challenge Awards Program research expedition sponsored by the Earthwatch Institute of Maynard, Mass.
Madsen participated in an all-expense paid summer trip to the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico to study transient phenomena in astrophysics.
Madsen is the son of Bill and Verlene Madsen of Coeur d’Alene.
The program is a field research expedition spanning from North America to the Caribbean and offers hands-on experience in a range of disciplines, from astrophysics to microbiology. The purpose of SCAP is to broaden the potential of high school students and to stimulate their curiousity in the fields of science and technology.
• David Nadler, a senior at the University of Idaho in Moscow, was selected to spend the summer as an intern for Sen. Larry Craig at his office in Washington, D.C.
Nadler, of Post Falls, is completing a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mathematics and plans to pursue a master’s program in computer science and earn a doctorate. He was paired with permanent staff members who specialized in his areas of interest and education while gaining experience in the day-to-day operations of the Senate.
• Andrew Johnson, a North Idaho College graduate, received a professional diploma during spring commencement at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He is currently living in Boston and playing with various bands on the East Coast.
Johnson attended Lakeland High School in Rathdrum and is the son of Leslie Johnson of Point Roberts, Wash., formerly of Rathdrum.
• Craig Estep and Curtis Knight, both 2004 graduates of Lake City High School, have earned the rank of Eagle Scout as members of Boy Scout Troop 299 of Coeur d’Alene. The Eagle Scout Award is the highest honor available to Boy Scouts.
Estep received his award for contributing 150 hours toward constructing and erecting an interpretive sign at Teepee Creek Wetlands in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest. His group of volunteers also cleaned up hiking trails in the wetlands vicinity. He is the son of Ron and Sandee Estep of Coeur d’Alene.
Knight’s project involved 120 hours of service while building and setting up a storage unit at Jenny Stokes Memorial Soccer Field in Coeur d’Alene. He is the son of Carl and Pam Knight of Coeur d’Alene.
Donations for the projects were contributed by Columbia Paint, Home Depot, Ziggy’s, Randy Berdine, Stock Lumber, Tim Stricklin, Lowe’s, Bob Aho, John Dale, Kevin Hill and K.C. Hansen.
• Kristin Parden and James Gleixner, both spring graduates of Academy, have been named National Merit finalists and have received Merit Scholarships.
Parden is attending the University of Puget Sound with interests in medicine and physical therapy. In high school, Parden was involved in honor band and debate, and served as secretary of National Honor Society and president of Key Club. She was a tutor and a five-year volunteer at Kootenai Medical Center. She graduated valedictorian.
Gleixner is attending the University of Idaho and is studying engineering. His high school involvement included debate, and he served as president of National Honor Society. He skipped pre-calculus and studied calculus II at North Idaho College and played for the Coeur d’Alene Youth Symphony. He was a soccer player and youth coach and worked part time throughout high school.
• Annette Torrence and Corella Butters, both of Bonners Ferry, recently earned honors at their respective colleges.
Torrence was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Rocky Mountain College in Billings and was the only Idaho student at RMC to maintain a 4.0 g.p.a. She is the daughter of Ed and Bev Torrence of Bonners Ferry.
Butters received a $1,000 Ray and Jean Arth Honors Scholarship at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minn.
She is a senior elementary education major.
• Tabitha Kraack, a basketball standout and spring graduate of Kootenai High School, has received a $28,000 basketball grant and academic scholarship at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont..
Kraack is the daughter of John and Marla Kraack of St. Maries.
• Jamie Clevenger of Post Falls graduated in the spring with a Bachelor of Science in technical project management for electronic commerce from ITT Technical Institute in Spokane.
