BlueRibbon director resigns over citation

Associated Press

POCATELLO, Idaho – The executive director of the BlueRibbon Coalition has resigned, five weeks after being issued a citation for outfitting without a license.

In a letter to supporters posted on the coalition’s Web site, Bill Dart said his resignation was effective Sept. 24 and was submitted after his meeting with coalition board members last weekend. The Idaho-based group defends motorized access to public land nationwide.

Although he had asked the board to withhold judgment on his ability to remain director until after the citation was resolved, Dart said there was agreement that his resignation would be in everyone’s best interest.

“Many, many issues in the recreation access arena are ongoing right now, and BlueRibbon needs to direct all of its resources on these issues and not be distracted with side issues,” Dart wrote.
