Walk for Success will be Saturday

The Spokesman-Review

The Edgecliff neighborhood will hold its annual Walk for Success Saturday.

Each year, residents march through the streets to show they are united in the fight against crime and poverty. Edgecliff is a low-income neighborhood near the western edge of Spokane Valley.

The community has a federal grant to help get rid of crime and to start programs for neighborhood children and adults.

This year, the Walk for Success will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Edgecliff Park at Sixth Avenue and Park Road.

The walk will last about an hour and will be followed by a barbecue and games at the park, said Edgecliff SCOPE president Rick Scott. SCOPE is an acronym for Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort. Edgecliff SCOPE members organize the annual event.
