Associated Press

STUTTGART, Germany – A man wielding a sword stormed a Protestant church in southern Germany on Sunday, killing one person and hurting three including a man whose hand was cut off.

About 65 members of the local Tamil community, about half of them children, were attending the service in Stuttgart when the man, 25, attacked, according to police.

He killed a 43-year-old woman and injured others including a woman who suffered life-threatening injuries and the man who lost a hand, police said.

The suspect, a Tamil from Stuttgart, was motivated by “personal reasons” in the attack, police said.
