Arc of Spokane presents community awards

The Arc of Spokane recently honored community members for helping its mission of serving people with developmental disabilities and their families.

The 2005 community awards recipients follow:

Jeff Ryan is the Arc employee of the year; Barbara Bruce, Arc management employee of the year; Sally Stultz, advocate of the year; Midge Rigby and Roxanne Coast, educators of the year; Debra Wilde, media person of the year; and Jason Peterson, self-advocate of the year.

Other recognition went to Washington Mutual Bank, West Main Branch, good neighbor award; Colonial Bowl, which closed last month to make room for Gonzaga University growth, organization of the year; and Rosauers in Browne’s Addition, employer of the year.

The Arc of Spokane also elected the following officers for its board of directors: Betty Shanks, president: Brenda O’Donnell, vice president; Krista O’Brien, treasurer; and Clayton Wright, secretary.

The nonprofit organzation’s directors are: Heather Comer, Vince Lemus, Judy Lippman, Krista O’Brien, Virginia Omoto, Kelly Padgham, Kathy Pasby, Tom Shanks, Ann Stone, Sally Stultz, Alice Tanaka and Doris Tryon.
