NIC’s Boesel named an All-American

North Idaho College women’s basketball player Jeni Boesel has been named to the NJCAA All-American second team.

Boesel, a sophomore guard from Brewster, Wash., was the leading scorer in the Scenic West Athletic Conference at 16.7 points per game. She made a SWAC-leading 72 3-pointers, one ahead of teammate Sheena Hinkle.

Boesel has orally committed to Idaho State, NIC coach Chris Carlson said.

Softball

Jessie LaPlante and Ashley Maier pitched back-to-back two-hitters Friday to lead Community Colleges of Spokane to an 8-0, 6-1 sweep of Yakima Valley CC as Spokane Falls Community College.

The Sasquatch (13-7, 8-2) remained one-half game behind Columbia Basin in the East Division of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.

Monica Judd hit a three-run homer in the first inning of the opener and had four RBIs on the day. Morgan Thomsen had two doubles in the second game for the Sasquatch.
