Noggin launching ‘Big Music Show’

Associated Press

As anyone who’s heard Barney and the Wiggles can attest, preschoolers have their own music world.

Now they’re getting their own television show devoted to music.

Noggin, a commercial-free network for preschoolers that is owned by Nickelodeon, will launch “Jack’s Big Music Show,” a 30-minute program that will feature music videos and in-studio performances by popular children’s musicians.

” ‘Jack’s‘ is something we’ve wanted to make for years,” said Amy Friedman, senior vice president of Nickelodeon Digital Television. “It’s like ‘TRL’ for children.”

(“TRL,” or “Total Request Live,” is a music show on MTV, Noggin’s corporate cousin.)

Jack is a puppet who will host the show, which begins in the fall, from his backyard clubhouse.

Noggin has not yet settled on a regular time slot for the show.
