The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man it believes stabbed another man at a party early Sunday.

Jeffrey Michael Crump, 19, of Coeur d’Alene, was stabbed multiple times and is in intensive care at Kootenai Medical Center, Capt. Ben Wolfinger wrote in a news release. Crump’s condition had been upgraded from critical to serious by Sunday afternoon.

A warrant has been issued for Jackson James Purdie, 19, of Coeur d’Alene, charging him with attempted second-degree murder.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at 1849 W. Lundy Blvd., west of Post Falls, at 1:10 a.m. and found what had been a young adult alcohol party. Crump had just been taken to the hospital by a citizen, and eight people remained at the crime scene, Wolfinger wrote.

Deputies learned that Crump and Purdie had gotten into a fight at the party and Crump had been stabbed several times with a knife.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Helen Rose Nordlind, of Coeur d’Alene, later Sunday for allegedly aiding and abetting a felony crime and obstructing officers. She was booked into Kootenai County Jail.

Purdie was last seen leaving a residence near 11th Street and Front Avenue in Coeur d’Alene on foot. He is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 167 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on Purdie’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (208) 446-1300.

Purdie and Nordlind have minor infractions, such as traffic violations, on their records, Wolfinger said Sunday. Crump’s record was clean.
