Ferris shares lead in GSL baseball race

Ferris maintained a share of first place in the Greater Spokane League baseball race by sweeping a pair of games from visiting Clarkston on Thursday.

The Saxons used a six-run first inning to score a 16-6 victory in the opener, with Ryan Murphy and Chris Bozo each collecting three hits and combining to drive in five runs.

Andy Greenslit was 3 for 3 and scored three runs as Ferris took the nightcap 8-3. Bud Kittredge pitched 6 2/3 innings to earn the win, striking out eight Bantams (3-9, 3-8) along the way.

Ferris (9-2, 8-1) remains tied with idle Mt. Spokane with one loss apiece.

In other games, University (4-7, 4-6) jumped all over left-hander Greg Bradley, who entered the game with a 2-1 record and a 0.93 ERA, to score a 9-1 victory over visiting West Valley (6-4, 5-3).. … Brice Parker allowed one earned run over six innings to lead East Valley to a 4-2 win over visiting Mead (2-6, 2-6). Tanner Hamilton was 3 for 3 with an RBI and Jake Labelle drove in a pair of runs for the Knights (6-6, 5-5). … Billy Rigsby singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to score Stewart Toelken with the winning run as Shadle Park (8-2, 6-2) scored a comeback 8-7 victory over visiting Central Valley at Jackson Field. The Bears (7-5, 5-5), held a 7-5 lead going into the final inning. Kris Henderson drove in three runs while going 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles for CV. … Brandon Arnold belted a pair of home runs and Max Shellabarger scattered just three hits to lead Cheney (2-9, 2-8) to an 8-6 win over host Lewis and Clark at Hart Field. The Tigers (5-5, 4-4) committed five errors. … North Central (6-6, 6-4) scored seven runs in the decisive sixth to put away a 12-4 victory at Rogers (4-5, 3-5). Evan Witt, Brett Richardson and Greg Stanifer each collected a pair of hits and scored twice for NC.

“In the Great Northern League, Alex Stillar fanned 10 Stags in five innings while going 4 for 4 with three runs scored to lead Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls (9-2, 8-1) to a 13-3 win over visiting Deer Park (1-10, 1-9). Cody Reeves was 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the victorious Eagles.

Softball

Stephanie Trudeau hurled a perfect game while hear teammates backed her effort with a 16-hit attack as Shadle Park (9-1, 8-1) scored a 20-0 GSL victory at West Valley (2-8, 2-7). … Elsewhere, Central Valley staked Rogers to a 3-0 lead after two innings, then roared back to score a 7-3 victory over the visiting Pirates (4-5, 4-5). Whitney McDaniel came on in the second and pitched five shutout innings, and the Bears (8-2, 7-2) collected seven consecutive hits in the third to score five runs to take the lead. … Katie Dulanty pitched a complete-game four-hitter to lead Mt. Spokane to an 11-1 victory at Cheney 2-8, 2-7). Kassie Lewis belted a two-run home run to lead the Wildcats (7-3, 7-2). … Mead (8-2, 7-2) scored three runs in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth to earn a 4-2 victory at Clarkston (4-7, 3-7). … East Valley scored two runs off a Lewis and Clark error in the bottom of the sixth to post a 7-5 win over the visiting Tigers (1-8, 1-8). Brianne Petrie had a pair of hits and drove in two runs to lead the victorious Knights (6-4, 5-4). … Linse Vlahovich allowed two hits and struck out 11 as University scored a 9-0 victory at North Central (4-6, 4-6). The Titans (8-1, 8-1) broke open the game in the fourth by scoring a pair of runs on squeeze plays.
