Skillingstad super in Shadle win

Samantha Skillingstad had a no-hitter through six innings before having to settle for a two-hit shutout as Shadle Park (10-1, 9-1) cruised past Central Valley (7-3, 7-3) 9-0 Friday in Greater Spokane League softball action at Franklin Park.

Central Valley’s Emily Anderson led off the seventh with a single to ruin the no-hit bid, but Skillingstad was still dominant, finishing with 17 strikeouts and just one walk.

In other GSL action, Laura Christianson went 5 for 5 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored as Gonzaga Prep (8-3, 7-3) beat Lewis and Clark (1-9, 1-9) 16-6 at Hart Field. … Kim Watson had 10 strikeouts and no walks en route to a one-hitter as Mead (9-2, 8-2) beat visiting East Valley (6-5, 5-5) 7-0. … Christina DeMello allowed just one hit and struck out 11 as Mt. Spokane (8-3, 8-2) shut out Ferris (0-11, 0-10) 10-0 at Mt. Spokane. … Shannon Carlon was 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Rogers (5-5, 5-5) beat visiting Cheney (2-9, 2-8) 6-2.

Angela Pegram held Coeur d’Alene to two runs on three hits and got the game-winning RBI as Lewiston beat the Vikings 3-2 to earn a split of an Inland Empire League doubleheader in Lewiston. In the first game, Jackie Lenz went 3 for 4 with two singles, a double, a run scored and an RBI as the Vikings (13-6, 7-4) beat the Bengals (9-7, 8-6) 4-0.

Boys soccer

Cole Abramson knocked in Ben Funkhouser’s cross just three minutes in, and East Valley held on the rest of the way to upset league-leading Central Valley 1-0 in Greater Spokane League action at CV. The Bears (9-3, 8-1) outshot the Knights (8-2, 7-2) 14-7 but couldn’t get anything past EV keeper Josh Peck, who finished with seven saves. … In other GSL games, Andy Largent scored twice, the second in the 69th minute, just two minutes after Gonzaga Prep had come back to tie the game, as Shadle Park held on to beat Gonzaga Prep 3-2 at Shadle Park. … Matt Harnetiaux and Stefan Andersson each had a pair of goals and Brad Posten added two assists as host Lewis and Clark (4-6, 4-5) cruised past Clarkston (0-12, 0-9) 5-0 at Hart Field. … Michael Hoover had a goal and two assists as Mead (5-6, 5-4) spanked North Central 6-0 (1-10, 1-8) at Mead.

Keith Kirsch scored the game’s only goal seven minutes in as Mt. Spokane (9-2, 7-2) beat University (6-4, 5-4) 1-0 at Mt. Spokane. The Wildcats outshot the Titans 18-12 en route to the win. … Taylor Yonago assisted on the game’s first two goals, the first scored by his brother Kyle from 30 yards out, as Ferris (9-2, 7-2) shut out Rogers (4-8, 2-7) 3-0 at Rogers. … Caleb Johnson, Devin Merrill and Ben Parker all scored and Jesse Retan had a pair of assists as Cheney (8-3, 5-3) beat West Valley (4-6, 2-6) 3-1 in Cheney.

Baseball

Travis Georgius had a pair of home runs as Coeur d’Alene (12-6, 6-5) outslugged Lewiston (12-6, 9-4) 12-9 for an Inland Empire League doubleheader split at Lewiston. In the first game, the Bengals took advantage of five CdA errors to hold off the Vikings 10-8. … The second game of Sandpoint’s doubleheader at Post Falls was suspended in the fifth inning with the Bulldogs up 8-2. The game will be rescheduled. The first game saw Sandpoint (6-10, 4-8) record a 10-6 win over Post Falls (9-8, 5-7).
