Spokane Valley UMC to host evangelist, workshop

Evangelist Marcella Ruch will be in Spokane Valley next weekend to present a “Praying for Others” workshop on prayer and healing at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.

The workshop is scheduled for 5:45 to 9 p.m. Friday and continues from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. next Saturday. Session topics include the Holy Spirit, physical healing, the importance of forgiveness and praying for others.

Ruch, of Colorado Springs, retired from teaching in 1997. She did mission work in Russia for five years before returning to the United States. She leads a prayer and healing ministry at the Sunrise United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs.

Those attending are asked to bring a Bible. The cost is $25, which includes a workbook, dinner Friday night and a continental breakfast and lunch next Saturday. Reservations are advised. Those interested in attending may call the church office at 924-7262.

Ruch will also preach during the 10 a.m. worship service at the church at 115 N. Raymond Road, May 1.

Information on Tanzania

The Rev. Mike Sager of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will share information about his travels to Tanzania, the sister synod of the Eastern Washington/Idaho Lutheran Synod.

The evening will begin with a soup supper at 6 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan Road. Sager will speak at 7.

Calling all campers

It’s Camp Sunday this week at the Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road. Those attending worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday are invited to wear camp T-shirts. A barbecue lunch will follow the service.

The lunch will be provided for a donation. Proceeds will benefit the church’s summer camp scholarship fund. There will be information available on this summer’s camp schedule.

Dinner and auction coming up

Millwood Presbyterian Church will host a spaghetti dinner and dessert auction next Saturday. The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

The cost will be $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 10 and under or $20 per family. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Proceeds from the event will help send the church’s Harmony Bells performers to a bell conference.

Rummage sale

There will be a little bit of everything Friday and next Saturday during a rummage sale at Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave. The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
