Post Falls pummels Lake City

Matt Rowland and Cody Brubaker hit back-to-back home runs in a 14-run first inning, as Post Falls defeated Lake City 20-10 in a five-inning Inland Empire League baseball game at Post Falls.

The Trojans (10-8, 6-7 IEL) had six straight hits in the first, including an RBI double from Brubaker, forcing Lake City (14-4, 8-3) to use three pitchers in the first two innings.

Kelly Hall added a two-run home run in the fourth for Post Falls, and pitcher Brandon Parker hit 3 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs.

IEL Softball

Lake City catcher Alysha Krier hit an RBI double in the second inning, giving pitcher Kellie Jost all the offense she needed in a 4-1 win at Post Falls.

The Trojans (9-8, 8-5) managed just four hits off Jost (10-2), who struck out seven and walked two. Dani Graham led Lake City (14-3, 10-1) with two hits.

Boys Golf

Led by Taylor Lowe’s fourth-place finish, Coeur d’Alene edged Lewiston by one stroke in the Sandpoint Invitational at Hidden Lakes Golf Course.

Tyler Morris of Riverside earned medalist honors with a 1-over 72, followed by Kellogg’s Derek Jarvey and Nick Cuchessi of Post Falls, who finished five strokes behind Coeur d’Alene in third place.
